In news that just about every Mac enthusiast is talking about today, Apple released their new ultra-thin, ultra-powerful iMac. I honestly couldn't care less about it. It's a cool computer, but I'm not a Mac fan-boy so it's really not a big deal to me. What does impress me about it though, is not what Apple put in it, but what they left out. The famed Apple key.



I'm impressed, yet not surprised. Apple has long bee known for "breaking the rules" when it comes to design. I may not be a fan-boy, but I am a fan of their design and usability. Since the Mac can run Windows by way of Bootcamp, the Apple key has become less important to the functionality of the computer as a whole. Rather than getting all weepy about it (like all their fans), Apple has opted to eliminate it all together. The Apple key is simply the Command key again, and I applaud them for making a decision based upon what's best for their products and not what's best for their branding.
